SOS College of Health Science University was founded in May 2002, as a school of nursing, at a crucial time when there was a pressing demand for skilled healthcare professionals who could deliver comprehensive care to individuals, families, and communities.
The College’s primary objective by then was to enhance the quality of life for the people of Somalia. To achieve this, it employs a distinctive approach that incorporates specialized teaching and learning resources, creating an environment conducive to effective education and skill development.
Since its establishment until 2016, the College has been dedicated to training highly qualified healthcare professionals who received accreditation from the World Health Organization (WHO)-Somalia. However, starting from 2016, the responsibility for accreditation was transferred to the Federal Ministry of Health in Somalia.
Throughout its existence, the University has maintained a reputation as a center of excellence in the training and development of competent nurses and midwives. These professionals are equipped with critical thinking skills to effectively address the diverse needs of patients and clients.
